Question 63

Assume there were a technological breakthrough that would allow people to travel as easily and cheaply between continents as between nearby cities. Unfortunately, There would also be 100,000 deaths a year from the device. Would you try to prevent its use?

Ok so in looking at other modes of transportation, and this is info from 2009:  Total highway related deaths came to 33,808.  Of course safer would be traveling by plane which resulted in only 543 deaths that year. So I don't think I could stop anyone from trying this as much as I could stop a person from getting behind the wheel of a car. It's a person's right to choose how they risk their lives and as long as they aren't hurting anyone else along the way I don't see a problem with it.  I just don't think I'd want to try it, and I really like flying so I don't think I'll be giving that up anytime soon.

You can find the statistics I used at the following HTML:
